Having researched the risks and carried the requisite planning, briefings and training, the next stage is to deploy the experts and specialist equipment and make arrangements for their safety and support in situ.
This is an area where experience and knowledge of the risks of operating in remote and dangerous regions of the world is at a premium. We can help with the 'before-u-go' briefings and preparations, the mechanics of getting you there, the get-u-in services, and whatever support you need thereafter.
Based on our previous experience, we can help you with pre-deployment reconnaissance to decide what level of infrastructure will be required, set up local facilities and contracts, and make arrangements for the reception of development agencies.
If required, we can then set up and run secure operating structures on your behalf - including the provision of 'safe havens' for key personnel, specialist equipment and aid supplies; an Information Centre to provide you with up-to-date safety information on routes, belligerent groups, natural hazards etc; and liaison points to interface with local government, security forces and local contractors.
Wherever possible, we provide these services on a pooled basis for all development and/or media agencies working in-country, so as to reduce duplication of effort, minimise costs and improve safety-related liaison.
These services are always tailored to the clients' particular requirements and can be adjusted as the operation develops and the situation changes.
In keeping with the Foundation's aims and ethos, all such services are provided on a not-for-profit basis for humanitarian organisations - thereby further reducing the financial burden on them.
For example, our establishment of an operational headquarters, communications facilities and air-bridge into Afghanistan immediately after the cessation of hostilities, and provision of a 'safe haven', provided many NGOs and humanitarian organisations with a stable and secure base in the region.
Establishing a clear exit strategy is almost as important as deployment planning.
At the very least, you will want to leave with dignity, with your reputation intact, and with all essential personnel and valuable equipment recovered safely. But things can go wrong, and it is wise to have contingency plans for emergency evacuation - just in case.
We can therefore help you plan and rehearse the withdrawal and can arrange air evacuation, if required, from virtually anywhere in the world.
